What We Did

featurist was engaged by Shailer Park Meals on Wheels, to create a website to enable their members to place orders online.
This organisation offers services to clients under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Home Care Package (HCP).

We worked closely with stakeholders to define requirements, with specific focus on the needs of their users. We delivered a new website aligned with their needs and objectives of their user base, who are primarily within the Aged Care sector.

The solution was built on WordPress and WooCommerce, offering a flexible and user-friendly content management experience and giving the Meals on Wheels staff the capability to self-manage the site updates, and to add the new menus weekly.

To support long-term sustainability, we implemented a stand-alone User guide site, to give new staff a ready-reference on how to do the primary task required in the website.

As this was the first time the organisation had ventured into online ordering, we not only delivered a modern, responsive website that works well for their members, we incorporated features in the back end to enable the staff to update menus and manage online orders as easily as possible.

The site has customised features to enable bulk editing of menu items, so that the team can quickly add a new weekly menu via one screen, rather than editing multiple product items one-by-one.

The site also includes member-based pricing.
The cost for meals is variable, to match the rates allocated to different membership levels. There is also a secure members area, so that users can see past order histories, download invoices and update their details.

The website has proven to be of great benefit to not only their Senior members, but also for these members families. It is often the children of the senior members that order on their behalf – and they can do this easily from work or home, with the confidence that the meal orders will be delivered.
